Staying Motivated in Business School: Tips for Beating Senioritis and Achieving Success

Happy Spring, The school year is winding down and I am inching closer to graduation. I wanted to offer some useful tips to combat senioritis and for staying motivated during your business school journey. Senioritis is a common problem that affects many students during their final year of business school. It can be difficult to stay motivated when you're close to the finish line, but it's important to keep pushing yourself to ensure you finish strong. Here are some recommendations for dealing with senioritis:

Reflecting Back and Finishing Strong!

This month marks the end of my first year at the Fisher College of Business, and what a year it has been! I cannot put into words how amazing the experience was and how thoroughly I enjoyed being a part of it. I have made some lifelong connections and built some strong networks during the course of this program. Reflecting back, I would love to highlight the plethora of skills that I have acquired in such a limited amount of time.

Choosing Classes for My Third Semester

In all honesty, it feels like it was just yesterday when I was taking all my business core classes back-to-back. Even though, at this point, I am four short weeks away from my first year as a Full-Time MBA student being over. Somewhere along the way, I learned more about finance, accounting, and operations, without ever having dug deep into the subjects before.

3 Hidden Gems in Marketing

Anyone who has followed or read my past posts knows I came to Fisher to pursue an MBA in Operations and Supply Chain. Still, the beauty of an MBA is that you have the opportunity to explore your other interests and subjects that can add value to your decision-making. Classes on marketing and analytics sparked an interest and I was looking to further my knowledge in these fields. I recommend the following courses to anyone interested in marketing and analytics:

31st Fisher Invitational Case Competition

A very important part of any MBA program is providing its students with hands-on learning opportunities. I believe that Fisher does an outstanding job at doing so. Last semester, we had the opportunity as a class to participate in an internal case competition among all first-year MBA students.

The Business Lab Challenge

One of the experiences that I was looking forward to the most pre-MBA was the core subject that I am going to be taking up this semester—the Business Lab Challenge. The subject started with a choice among a plethora of firms and companies that had come to us MBA students to work with us and help them solve a problem as a strategy consultant for their firm.

Choosing My Second Semester Electives

As the first semester of school came to an end, I could see how the business acumen of my peers and I had started increasing, and we started looking at different things from a business perspective. At the same time, we all started discovering the different areas in which we are interested either HR, supply chain, marketing, or finance among many others.
